My Story: When I Met Him in the Elevator

It was a typical day. When everything seems to be five minutes behind schedule and nothing goes as planned, you know the kind. After a demanding week, I was eager to get home and relax, I had a very bad day so I hurried out of the office. Fortunately, I managed to squeeze through and just into the elevator carefully handling my red dress just as the doors were closing.

With a little gasp, I said, "Thanks for holding the door."

The deep voice from the distant corner replied, "No problem."

At first, I hadn't spotted him. I was too preoccupied with being late and annoyed by the craziness of the day. All I was thinking of to go to sleep as soon as I get home. However, as I turned back, I saw a guy standing idly against the wall. His piercing emerald eyes and sharp features made my heart skip a beat, and he was tall. I briefly forgot that I was in an elevator because of the serene confidence he exuded in the tiny room.

Then the lights flickered. Just like in a movie but that was not something new in here. This elevator gets stuck alot!

"Are you serious?" The elevator lurched to a stop between floors, and I mumbled to myself. There was stillness for a minute, and I felt something in my stomach.

The soft man continued, his voice tinged with laughter, "Well, this is... unexpected."

I pressed the button for emergency. Nothing. The elevator was still.

"Excellent," I sighed. "This would happen now, of course."

With a quiet laugh, he moved ahead. "I suppose we'll be stuck for a long time."

His calm, almost joking tone of voice did nothing to soothe me down. Neither his phone nor mine displayed any signal. We were alone in an elevator that was stranded between levels, and we had no idea when assistance would arrive.

"So, do you have a name?" The silence was broken once more by his deep but soft voice.

After a little pause, I responded, "Bella. And you?

“Niall,” he said, holding out his hand.

I shook it, feeling his skin's warmth and the way his touch lasted a fraction of a second longer than it should have. My heart was pounding, but I wasn't sure if that was due to the circumstances or something else.

"Bella, hmm nice name. A smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth as he remarked, "Looks like we have to talk for a while so time moves fast."

Even though I was still tense, I laughed. "Haha Well, I suppose so."

The cramped room seemed to get smaller by the minute as the minutes went by. I wasn't sure if it was the man standing so close or the fact that I was trapped in this small box, but I could feel the tension rising. I couldn't help but glance at him, taking in his powerful jawline and the way his shirt fit snugly against his chest.

And He saw me staring. Shit!

"Are you okay?" he said in a low, playful voice.

Yes, all right. “ Its just... not exactly how I planned to spend my night''

I could feel the heat emanating from him as he took a single step closer. His eyes met mine as he whispered, "Could be more."

Something electric, something unsaid, was in the air between us now. I was unable to turn away. Aside from the faint sound of our breathing, the elevator remained silent and motionless. I felt a weird pull from his concentrated gaze, as if gravity itself were changing in this small area.

"Yeah could be more," I repeated, my voice hardly audible above a whisper.

He stepped closer again, getting close enough that I could detect the faint woodsy and heavy scent of his perfume. I could feel my pulse in my fingertips and my heart thumping in my chest. The electric tension between us was strong enough to pierce through. I forced myself to swallow in an attempt to stop my mind from racing, but it was difficult.

His hand came out and lightly touched my arm, but I didn't turn away. I felt a surge of energy from his gentle, almost timid touch.

"Do you always approach strangers in elevators like this?" My voice was a touch breathless as I asked.

His smile became malicious, and his eyes darkened. "Just the ones that are interesting."

My face flushed, and I could feel the heat rising up my neck. "And why do you find me intriguing?"

His fingers were now running up my arm, giving me chills as he cocked his head. "because I can't help," he answered, hardly raising his voice above a whisper.

My mind was blank, but I wanted to say something witty so bad, something to ease the tension. His closeness and the way his touch felt like a live wire against my skin were all I could think about. I couldn't tell if he leaned in first or me, but all of a sudden, the distance between us vanished...

His lips pressed against mine, delicate and careful, as if testing the water. My breath seized in my throat, and for a second, the world outside the elevator vanished. I kissed him back, and everything else faded away: the broken lift, the exhausting week, the constant concerns in the back of my mind.

His hands gripped my waist, bringing me more closer, and I let out a little gasp as he prolonged his kiss. The air around us crackled with energy, and the elevator walls closed in on us, making the situation feel incredibly.... private.

"Is this how you usually behave in elevators?" With my lips grazing his, I asked in between kisses.

Against my lips, he laughed. "Only when I am stuck with someone who is worthy of my time."

He got closer as my fingers got caught in his hair. The sensation of his body against mine, the way his hands slid around my waist, and the way his lips moved with mine as though we were the only two people in the world were all that mattered to me at that time.

I'm not sure if we were there for seconds, minutes, or hours. In the heat of the moment, time appeared to float by. Everything else in the room was tense and full of activity, but the elevator remained steady and silent.

The lift then surged back to life as abruptly as it had stopped. The gentle hum of the machinery resumed as the lights flickered.

Breathless, we withdrew from one another, pressing our foreheads together as reality gradually returned.

My voice was a touch unsteady as I said, "Well, that was... unusual."

He wiped a piece of hair out of my face as he laughed softly. "Yes, I would say so."

The moment was shattered but still lingering between us when the elevator doors opened and we emerged into the lobby.

I remarked clumsily, looking around as though I had just realized that the world outside the elevator existed. "So... good time han," I said.

With his gaze remained fixed on mine, Niall answered, "Yeah, it was." "Perhaps we ought to repeat it at some point. Without this broken life.

"Perhaps we should," I grinned as a sensation of warmth washed over me.

He gave me his charming smile as he took out his phone. "May I have your number ma'am?"

I took his phone, my fingertips touching his as I punched in my number, my heart pounding. "there you go."

He smiled as he sent the message, his eyes twinkling with mischief. “Can’t wait to see what trouble we get into next.”

I felt so shy.. "I’ll be waiting''.. Bye niall

"Bye bella''  a playful smile on his lips.

and then we went our homes. Ofcourse I had butterflies in my stomach. I just met a stranger who took my breathe away. I knew I will not sleep tonight as we will be talking all night!
